Pro bono research and evaluation activities have been provided to a number of agencies whose missions are consistent with that of the Institute: to improve human and social conditions. In addition, the Institute has sponsored a number of projects that are aimed at strengthening the larger infrastructure of prevention service delivery. Examples of pro bono work and contribution projects sponsored by the Institute include:

  • Development of a comprehensive database to track clients served and services delivered to support the formative evaluation needs of The Gathering Place, a homeless day shelter for women and children
  • Pro bono evaluation of the 2002 Healthy People 2010 Health Disparities Forum sponsored by the Colorado Minority Health Forum, Colorado Turning Point Initiative, Denver Healthy People 2010, and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. OMNI Institute also contributed toward the development of a Proceedings Report developed from the conference.
  • Free services were provided to support the priority population tobacco control needs assessment of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Community in Colorado. This work was conducted in partnership with the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center of Colorado for the Colorado State Tobacco Education and Prevention Partnership (STEPP).
  • Pro bono services supported the development of an evaluation design, management information system, and analysis plan for the Los Padres curriculum - a new curriculum created by the Center for the Advancement of Parent Involvement in Education. This Center, formed in 2002, is dedicated to promoting parental engagement in children’s learning and academic success, specifically among Latino parents in Colorado.
  • Development of a comprehensive Web-based, queryable database of community prevention resources funded by various state and federal agencies. The Colorado Prevention Resource Database is a collaborative project of OMNI Institute and the Prevention Leadership Council.
  • Sponsorship of Breaking the Cycle of Violence: An Experiment in Social Change. This workgroup brought together Colorado leaders in violence prevention on February 7, 2003 to discuss the phenomenon of violence and create new avenues for social change.
  • Sponsorship and hosting of the Colorado Council of Social Scientists (2000 to 2004).
