Examples of volunteer work include:

• On May 8, 2004, some OMNI employees and friends took part in Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado’s weed eradication project in northern Boulder. The goal for this all-day project was to remove Mediterranean Sage, a non-native plant which threatens the other natural habitat of any area. Using shovels to dig up this weed, OMNI staff enjoyed a hard day of labor and camaraderie. OMNI has volunteered for this organization in the past, participating in an event to plant trees in a newly developed park in Littleton.
• Holding a bake sale and donation drive to raise funds to purchase bullet-proof vests to protect dogs working on the Denver Metro SWAT team. Thanks to many generous donations and the assistance of Reliance Armor Systems, we have ordered three vests to be presented to Denver Metro SWAT. Thanks is due to all who contributed time and/or money towards this effort. Now our K-9 friends can patrol the streets in safety.
• Holding an annual holiday auction for the benefit of the Gathering Place, a Denver area homeless day shelter for women and children. Since 1999, OMNI staff has auctioned their skills, time and other purchased gifts in support of the Gathering Place. Past auction items have included sewing lessons, xeriscaping help, household repair and a variety of gifts.
• Purchasing, preparing and serving lunch to youth at Urban Peak, Colorado’s only shelter for homeless and runaway youth.
