Omni’s evaluation of Peer Recovery Specialists (PRS) highlights the unique nature and reach of PRS across the continuum of care. Omni’s evaluation covers Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Collegiate Recovery Programs, and PRS who work with law enforcement and justice-involved individuals.

Through the evaluation, Omni has:

  • Collected quarterly data from over 40 CBOs to analyze and report to SAMHSA and aggregate in interactive dashboards for DBHDS to use in their decision-making processes
  • Worked with Collegiate Recovery Programs (CRPs) to help understand the impact recovery services have on college students
  • Collected data from PRS who work alongside law enforcement and other community support agencies to support community members in crisis
  • Analyzed client BARC-10 results to understand the statistical significance of working with a PRS on sustained recovery
  • Developed the hospital-initiated Recovery Services Dashboard, which displays the locations of Virginia’s hospital-initiated recovery programs, including peer recovery support programs based in the emergency department and other hospital departments, and Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) Bridge programs

To support the implementation of the evaluation, Omni provides personalized technical assistance to grantees, including data collection implementation planning. Omni has created several data collection guides and tools for grantees to use to simplify their data collection.

Bradley Free Clinic used the analysis of its BARC-10 scores as evidence for the success of its services in fundraising efforts. The clinic obtained a $500,000 grant to replicate its Hope program in six other free clinics across Virginia.
