In 2021, Capstone Treatment Center partnered with Omni to conduct a retrospective evaluation examining long-term outcomes for young male clients and their caregivers following residential treatment. Through surveys distributed to over 700 former clients and caregivers, the study explored treatment experiences, post-treatment engagement, and the lasting impacts on mental health, recovery, and family dynamics. The findings offer a meaningful look into Capstone’s holistic and trauma-informed approach, which combines therapy, family involvement, adventure activities, and structured aftercare.

The evaluation revealed exceptionally high satisfaction: 100% of clients and 98% of caregivers expressed satisfaction with Capstone’s program, and more than 75% rated their likelihood to recommend the program above 7 on a 10-point scale. Individual counseling emerged as the most valued component, with all clients and nearly all caregivers rating it as helpful. Importantly, clients showed strong indicators of recovery, including an average BARC-10 score of 53 (above the threshold for predicted sustained remission) and high levels of self-efficacy and family cohesion. However, the report also identified areas for growth, such as enhancing aftercare follow-through and adapting the canine therapy component to reduce post-treatment burdens.

Capstone’s impact extends beyond individual recovery—caregivers reported strengthened family relationships, increased understanding of trauma, and a renewed path forward for their families. As Capstone considers refining its programming, these retrospective insights provide both affirmation of what works and clear guidance for future improvements aimed at deepening recovery outcomes and family resilience.

Working with Capstone on this retrospective evaluation was incredibly meaningful—we heard firsthand how the program helped transform lives and strengthen families. The level of growth and hope expressed by participants speaks volumes about the depth of impact Capstone is making.
