Overview
Omni has collected stories of powerful individual and community transformations across Virginia made possible through State Opioid Response funding, illustrating the human impact behind the data and affirming the value of sustained prevention, harm reduction, treatement and recovery efforts.

The Virginia State Opioid Response Success Stories report, compiled by Omni in partnership with the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, presents a compelling collection of personal narratives and community highlights demonstrating the transformative impact of State Opioid Response (SOR) funding. Since 2018, this funding has enabled Virginia to implement innovative approaches to prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery for individuals affected by substance use. The report centers the voices of individuals and families—those who have regained custody of their children, accessed stable housing, pursued employment, and trained as peer recovery specialists—offering insight into the real-life progress catalyzed by SOR-supported services.

Omni's role as Virginia’s research and evaluation partner has been instrumental in collecting and sharing these stories, which not only humanize the outcomes of SOR investment but also underscore the systemic value of community-centered behavioral health interventions. These narratives illuminate the ripple effects of recovery—how one person's transformation can strengthen families and communities. Through authentic storytelling and data-informed framing, the report highlights both the urgency of addressing the opioid crisis and the hope embedded in sustained, equitable support structures.
